I used to go to Studland beach when I was little, so we went there that afternoon, and found a great little beach cafe serving breakfasts, hot drinks and snacks, with views out to sea. We took a wander down the beach, and saw the Isle of Wight in the distance.
The next day we went to Brownsea Island, via a boat from Poole Harbour. It was a bit wet in the morning but it brightened up, and we saw some amazing animals - a red squirrel, deer, peacocks and pheasants.
In the evening, we went to Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door, the sun was low and cast a beautiful golden light across the beach and cliffs. The walk back up the hill to the car was so steep, but it was worth it for the views! We had a BBQ that evening with the most amazing sunset.

On the last day we went to Corfe Castle. The views were spectacular from the top, and the castle ruins were really interesting. We saw the steam train from the castle, and stopped off to see some medieval displays at the base of the castle.
We had a cream tea, and then wandered around Corfe for a while admiring the pretty cottages, and visited the smallest town hall building in England (literally the size of a room)!
Beautiful... I must take the boys there. A castle and a steam train heaven for small boys. Gorgeous photos... love the bracken one. Lou x
ReplyDeleteHi Lou,
ReplyDeleteYes it's lovely there. It was great for a weekend, because there's lots to do in a pretty small area, so it's really relaxing. And the steam train did look fun too!
