On Saturday, we drove further into Dorset to visit another chalk landmark, the
Cerne Abbas giant.
We walked along the river and into the local village (apparently voted Britain's most desirable village a few years ago)... oh, it was very lovely indeed!
After wandering along the river and around the abbey grounds, we meandered around the little streets, admiring the lovely houses and pretty gardens.
On Sunday, we stopped at
Mottisfont, for some tea and cake, on the way back to London. It turned out to be a huge house, elegantly decorated and full of wonderful artworks, including Ben Nicholson, Barbara Hepworth, Rex Whistler and Edgar Degas. Apparently in the 1930's, the house was a real destination for artists, designers and writers... I bet the parties were fabulous!
Gorgeous pictures, it looks so beautiful there! xx
