The climbing plant on our fence is dropping all over the patio. I guess it isn't an ivy after all.
I gathered some of the richly coloured leaves and strung them into a simple garland with a needle and thread. I placed a few of them into my vintage frame too.
Admittedly they looked better last night, perhaps I should have dipped them in wax first. I still like the effect though.
I bought the candle and card at a recent trip to Baileys Home... ooh that place is amazing. All natural wood and enamel kitchen supplies, welsh blankets and gorgeous sofas. The candle really does smell like freshly cut grass, and the card is from a print by Tom Frost, one of my current favourites.

Gosh what a beautiful display! That mirror is stunning. I've just been over to Baileys - they have an online shop now! Happy days... xx p.s. I've made a group pin board nature in the home., Love it for you to contribute. x
ReplyDeleteah, thanks Lou! I know... very very tempting! ooh yes, would love to, sign me up! x
DeleteSo beautiful! I like to laminate leaves and then stick them on our windows. The colour lasts quite well, but the laminator doesn't do them as much justice as that frame does. It's gorgeous!
ReplyDeletethank you! good idea :) x
DeleteOh my how lovely! I saw a post a few days back, mumturnedmom I think it was, who dipped leaves in wax to preserve them, such a neat idea. I love your garland of leaves so much - what sweet colours to bring into the house from outside! I'll try doing one with the kiddos next week when they are off school!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the inspiration - and as usual, for joining in x
thanks Annie! ooh, I'll check it out :) it's a fun, quick project, I'm sure the kids would enjoy it x
Deletelove the garland!!
ReplyDeletethank you! x
DeleteBeautiful leaves Charmaine. I remember that Martha thing of dipping the wax in leaves from years back, I never tried it, but I expect that it would work really well to sort of keep them in suspended animation. The gardland looks lovely regardless though. xx
ReplyDeletethanks Amy! yes, I was going to do it last year (I even bought the wax) but life got in the way! x
DeleteI did indeed wax some leaves last week, they have kept their colour beautifully! I love your garland. The 7yo wants to make something with the waxed leaves - I might suggest that :)
ReplyDeletelovely! glad to know it works! I might make another and wax them this time! x
DeleteStunning display! Those leaves look so pretty x
ReplyDeletethank you! x
