Next door's magnolia is in full bloom… in fact the petals are beginning to drop. The flowers are huge and a soft, pale pink… they remind me of a ballerina's tutu.
Last weekend we planted the long border, so we have a handful of roses, peonies, begonias and ranunculus, along with some plants which should hopefully give us year-round interest… dogwood, virburnum and hebe. We planted all of our Christmas hyacinths in too, so we should hopefully have some early Spring colour next year. At the moment it looks a little bare, but I'm sure it will spread out over the coming months.
Mollie loves the garden and spends her time tearing from one end to the other, sniffing incessantly and trying to make friends with the neighbour's dog Sketch.
A couple of days ago, I gathered a few sprigs from the garden for my April moodboard… I'm planning to post a moodboard here each month so I have a snapshot of how the garden changes month by month. You can see the first of those posts here.
