Hello again… I'm trying to get back to regular blogging but since our daughter Lily arrived, it's been a little hectic here to say the least! Although she's not home yet, we're certainly getting closer and she's doing really well.
Given we've barely looked at our garden for the past five weeks, it's doing surprisingly well. These photos were taken about a month ago, just as the cut flowers were starting to bloom and the vegetables showed their first signs of growth.
We still have absolutely loads of sweet peas, I'm so thrilled they've grown as last years failed miserably! The anemones have finished flowering now but they were beautiful while they lasted (mental note to plant more next year). The dahlias and cosmos are now in full bloom and are absolutely stunning.
The vegetables have worked remarkably well… we have somewhat of a glut of runner beans and courgettes, and they taste so much better than the shop-bought ones! In the other raised bed (not pictured) the slugs reached the cabbages before we did (though one was saved) but we do have huge numbers of beetroot and potatoes.

Glad to hear your little one is doing well :) Your garden is looking really good, full of flowers and healthy plants. Homegrown runners are nice aren't they. I'm not going to buy any from the supermarket again.
ReplyDeletethank you! they do, I was so surprised by the difference! x
DeleteI am so glad to hear that you are well and that Lily is doing so well too!!! That is great news that she is getting on her way to coming home with you. How great too that your sweet peas have done so well for you this year, all sorts of new things in your life this summer!! xx
ReplyDeletethanks Amy! indeed! I'll definitely be growing them again next year x
DeleteUntended but beautiful, it's all growing so well! And huge congratulations on the birth of Lily, I'm shamefully late in discovering and saying that I know - I totally blame the Summer holidays, these past few weeks are a blur already.
ReplyDeleteThe courgettes and runners have ended here but it was a great year for them while they lasted - totally agree with what you said about homegrown tasting so different and better than shop bought. There's a lot to be said for eating things in season only.
Thanks ever so much for finding time to join in - and I hope Lily is home with you soon, much love to you all x
thanks Annie! x
DeleteYour garden is looking great considering how little time you must have been able to spend on it. Glad to hear your little one is doing well too.
ReplyDeletethank you! the lawn is a mess but the flowers and veg seem to be doing very well on very little love! x
DeletePleased to hear that Lily is doing well. It will be so exciting when you bring her home for the first time and you can show her the garden - encourage green fingers from a young age! Not long now x and thanks for the link to Annie.
