VISIT | Clovelly Village

We recently visited Clovelly, a village set deep into the rocks and buffeted by the sea.

Clovelly is pedestrianised, so we left our car at the top of the hill. We slowly made our way down the cobbled street, past the picture-perfect cottages and towards the harbour below.

The journey down to the harbour is pretty steep and not for the faint-hearted. We saw several residents transporting shopping and supplies up and down the hill on what seemed to be adapted sledges.

We were presented with some incredible views of the sea below on the journey down. At the bottom I ventured up onto the harbour wall. There's nothing quite like the exhilaration of almost being blown into the sea to make you feel alive!

The entry fee to Clovelly Village (£7.25 per adult) also includes entry to Clovelly Court Gardens, which is well worth a visit if you (like me) are a fan of walled gardens and glasshouses. Another post coming up on that soon.
