INTERIORS | Task Lighting - A collaboration with First Choice Lighting

As our home starts to take shape, I've been on the hunt for stylish task lighting.

I have a small studio/office upstairs, which is yet to be renovated. The light can be too overpowering from the pendant light overhead, so I need something to illuminate specific tasks at my desk, without bathing the whole room in light.

This room will be the last to be overhauled as we have the main living/dining space to finish and a bathroom to refit. Despite the room not being complete just yet, I still like to look for the finishing touches.

First Choice Lighting recently contacted me and kindly asked if I would be interested in choosing a light from their collection. I'm so glad they got in touch, as their range is exhaustive.

I already knew I would be looking for a studio desk lamp with a mid-century but contemporary feel. We have some mid-century pieces of furniture which we've collected over the years - and the house was built in 1958 - so it seems apt to continue the theme, albeit with a contemporary twist.

The Nordlux designs really stood out to me. As one of Scandinavia's leading lighting suppliers, their designs hit just the right note of minimalism and cool. There were so many possible options but I decided on the Nordlux Task Lamp in black. I love the unusual form of both the shade and stand, while the simple matte black metal really appeals to my minimalistic side.

The overall palette in our home is very neutral - white walls, stripped wooden and marble floors, with plywood detailing and pops of green from foliage - so the black offers a pleasing contrast. For now, the lamp sits on the sideboard in our living room; but as soon as my studio is renovated, it will take up it's new home there.

Disclosure: I was kindly gifted the lamp by First Choice Lighting for the purposes of this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
